A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 4-oct-2017-cm-y-representantes-de-gibraltar-en-cuarta-comisin-de-naciones-unidas-7_37398298410_o 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar04_14731959348_o Minister John Cortes gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9703004352_o img_8806_20133531022_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48721053187_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25248540973_o img_4197_20920904089_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-28_29360137171_o 7u3a5779_49425818426_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32513356486_o 7u3a5821_49425351433_o 2g9a0431_48801428967_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-8 2g9a0700_48919806842_o img_5389_48919603576_o img_3848_30891438537_o img_1518_36213021323_o img_9008_38364015011_o_26590188299_o img_7222_34614667512_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-50_32022595041_o img_0472_36082667740_o img_9892_36311270832_o 2g9a4625_30827329271_o 2g9a7237_29797863526_o 2g9a7432_29207310063_o untitled_panorama1_28874445023_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-77 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551865203_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062052422_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
