A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_4816_41863365531_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-88_28815935944_o img_4102_20919761410_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201403_15623702085_o 2g9a9793_50032953587_o 2g9a0395_48801429432_o 7u3a5183_49336912082_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-01_12864996604_o Monos-55 img_0210_29910454658_o Alameda-26 7u3a0161_50032952942_o panorama-18_24765528797_o shipping-1_27855091649_o 2g9a0570_48919597366_o img_5321_48919810757_o img_0268_45831069391_o img_1827_37002176495_o dscf7900_43693500535_o img_3108_40937805851_o img_0224_28318269758_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-41_31765981470_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-49_31992467502_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354096473_o 2g9a5834_32763867525_o 2g9a5187_30961477885_o img_3738_36973651796_o 2g9a5256_30925825006_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-91_29494995942_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26586169962_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25125252519_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-49_20564694524_o lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_25784830083_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
