img_3983_16074456530_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-03_9225477948_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii11_21224475791_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25197319570_o 2014-Gibraltar-Year-of-the-Horse cervantes-11 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976531205_o HM-Queen-Elizabeth-II-Prince-Philip-Lifetime-of-Service partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-07_14755370252_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-36_37623771872_o img_9585_42077110212_o 7u3a0086_50032953247_o 2g9a8856_48826250888_o beaches-1_25762193678_o evacuation-monument-0489_27856102459_o P1080656 heritage170_25761759318_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-11 2g9a4241_48230643706_o img_5201_48919808622_o img_2411-2_30765502368_o img_9494_44160766644_o img_8784_39910034801_o img_1425_42824930770_o cm22_35393033063_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-77_26771254289_o 2g9a5790_32383641240_o 2g9a5156_30659673500_o 2g9a4465_30827319171_o 2g9a7343_29540551170_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941931353_o 104145_29388299792_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-6_26330689693_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-6 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-10_24847790001_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549746124_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-85_21000522449_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. 24-jun-2016-comparecencia-de-fabin-picardo-en-el-parlamento-de-gibraltar-tras-referndum-permanencia-ru-en-ue-14_27802384691_o lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_26295206492_o lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_26361656626_o img_7714_21298677725_o La Línea de la Concepción, 25 septiembre 2013.
