Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. default gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9703002222_o miguel-martinez-combarrro-pontevedra-espaa_14031384011_o 2g9a3003_49094442191_o 7u3a6468_49454485406_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-33_19908517105_o img_0628_20974125064_o strongmen-201376_10018901025_o 2g9a3010_49093921918_o 2g9a9555_50032626906_o 1_img_0115_42877250235_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-9 main-street-0435_38925638504_o 2g9a4545_48714142751_o 2g9a4672_48713814483_o 2g9a8370_46581736252_o img_0293_31960328868_o img_5294_41600446064_o img_0155_40383715590_o img_7178_33968356873_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-18_31980776932_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-20_34309882092_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705376_o 2g9a5910_30306641013_o_31001126491_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-21_30962841905_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-7_30661247110_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-53_30828719641_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-34_30578367120_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941951263_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-65 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-7 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-01_22868948264_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. a-dsc_5491_18815992763_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-01_16195952576_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201402_15813424065_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201441_15789739966_o img_2107_27703070985_o img_2526_25091224005_o gibraltar-national-day_031_9716502355_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
