A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 4-oct-2017-cm-y-representantes-de-gibraltar-en-cuarta-comisin-de-naciones-unidas-5_37398298730_o img_3329_34202600996_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23216935692_o miguel-martnez-combarrro-pontevedra-espaa_14011455206_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699855265_o 2g9a0575_26757758282_o img_2705_45564866351_o 2g9a2051_49049238407_o img_0756_20975829283_o gib-view-1_38737087565_o 2g9a0496_48800937273_o gib-view-8_39603234612_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-26_37398191710_o b7b84d47503c5f32ac3a435f71a4a6ac sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165200234_o st-michaels-cave-5_38925211624_o st-michaels-cave-6_39603751902_o st-michaels-cave-7_39633552141_o img_1490_43725754835_o img_9296_29944470397_o 2g9a9400_32308846396_o img_9818_43969758815_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-20_31331050603_o stormzy-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-6_44163867514_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-49_30962916105_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026149261_o 2g9a9279_29448090826_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168279395_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27222138773_o img_2378_36349030383_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-14 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
