A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-21_9222720375_o miguel-martinez-combarrro-pontevedra-espaa_14031384011_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival45_14277886219_o img_6709_35154396580_o img_0498_22294327434_o university-10_39603334062_o img_0830_21409148040_o img_4209_20919792098_o 2g9a9673_50032156063_o img_5847_49086660877_o 2g9a1967_49049024396_o img_4790after_38925258364_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114461996_o 2g9a1887_48699660741_o img_5158_48919069453_o 2g9a8435_46634160591_o img_0314_31960327678_o img_5358_27453591247_o img_9605_44160781214_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-117_29494983642_o img_9630_43969757315_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31427020276_o img_8735_26036950178_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-49_30962916105_o img_3780_36765414540_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-34_30880581426_o 2g9a9773_29401373241_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-52 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
