A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. inmaculada-fotos-23112014-12_15473742493_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-37_17362589882_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii20_21216519815_o img_5161_34402434706_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-34_40133909382_o strongmen-201306_10019358915_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201419_15437110249_o img_9567_42077113782_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-7 Monos-41 img_1917_39633888391_o main-street-0433_24765675827_o Punta-Europa-26 shipping-9_39632708821_o st-michaels-cave-7_39633552141_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131072316_o dscf7920_44550422732_o img_4608_48713811103_o img_1746_43726062115_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-147_38547049871_o img_7178_33968356873_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-7_31288264824_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-14_31331052453_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-37_31992468812_o 17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32368145225_o img_2218_36326665384_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31427335866_o 2g9a6136_30746380500_o_31114931735_o 2g9a9373_28860191403_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275184030_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23580015023_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-15_23497273495_o a-dsc_0239_18816048023_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
