181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0029_19637114953_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-18_9222665493_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9699913783_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703093690_o 2013-Endangered-Animals-III-Set concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720880711_o 2530EE1 open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16200775047_o strongmen-201319_10019235074_o img_4286_20919713928_o img_4298_20484976974_o 2g9a9744_50032952502_o img_5771_49086658582_o img_5798_49086662107_o gib-night-1_39633165281_o Mezquita-8 Punta-Europa-4 2g9a4287_48230652446_o 2g9a8485_46634156141_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-128_29524265061_o img_9477_43969661765_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318398272_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-74_30661171030_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-11_25326960339_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29845566572_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-39 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26679107575_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-4_24941103085_o 2g9a2133_26635255174_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
