160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28004546131_o 20150911_132829357_ios_22754323341_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0330_45202120175_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez09_12102184333_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466798246_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-11_24970507892_o img_5316_33634059563_o img_7578_35694936276_o img_0746_20974173734_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201436_15600025426_o cervantes-09 img_4684_45389845214_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente05_12249585836_o 2g9a0285_48801427107_o 2g9a2538_49086661552_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-19_16450799331_o Monos-18 img_5397_48919603316_o img_1722_36605172860_o img_9992_42144385742_o img_0782_39877392102_o img_1463_36849906982_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-13_31765982120_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-27_32022607631_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-23_30962841425_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-7_30661247110_o img_5162_28854863544_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27758109831_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27758329471_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417185165_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-39_24573489889_o 2g9a1600_27170661121_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
