Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9334_48908300092_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634130085_o skywalk-gibraltar-2-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367549160_o inmaculada-fotos-23112014-06_15471105334_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400097571_o 7u3a9413_49597579241_o img_6769_35502345856_o img_0719_21585690522_o proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_40689988385_o img_9963_20846964183_o img_2589_44650703115_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-27_32513497486_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-6_19384041939_o 125th-Anniversary-of-Gibraltar-Stamps visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-19_14150893532_o 7u3a5258_49336693586_o alameda-gardens-16_25762480718_o img_3866_30891441457_o img_2404_40800643412_o img_1817_36605211090_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31920712804_o img_9404_44830621072_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-79_29494973792_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-80_38490782636_o 110183_29207859940_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-126_24674712558_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-17_23129285749_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-8_40438424681_o gibraltar-300-aos-de-utrecht-1372013-07_9289370235_o img_8735_26036950178_o GIBRALTAR NATIONAL DAY 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354051733_o img_8072_21110569438_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026137131_o 1_7U3A4496 img_3804_36326669504_o Main-Street-Condes-de-Wessex-en-su-paseo-por-la-Calle-Real-5 gibraltar-recuerda-a-las-vctimas-de-los-ataques-de-pars_30679842430_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
