A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. otro-clsico-del-turismo-de-gibraltar-el-queens-hotel_22727032072_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar18_14801018548_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar16_14803044039_o img_3356_34112847811_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9703015414_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii48_21190199416_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii50_21028535958_o calpeia6_48875163987_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-1_25062358746_o 7u3a9568_49900298323_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-42_24970469192_o 7u3a9697_49901121042_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks 2g9a8825_48826777042_o img_0767_21408887230_o cruise-liners-9_25762305848_o 2g9a0269_48801427327_o 568772657257d7e1a01052c1fcb4f963 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876333231_o Alameda-5 lincoln-uefa-21072015-01_19721865789_o commonwealth-park-18_27855803939_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-9 img_5246_48919809537_o img_4614_48713815278_o OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA img_9281_44160659384_o 2g9a5064_30925476506_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354091363_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-40_22784320518_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168279395_o 2g9a7430_29205975844_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-2_24941103815_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-09_23497283285_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
