A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3326_34202601286_o img_3376_34112845901_o img_3391_34112868251_o maik-las-palmas-espaa_14033020105_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-42_9222686845_o miembros-del-jurado_14029877671_o miguel-martinez-combarrro-pontevedra-espaa_14031384011_o img_5198_34284275982_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_2606_45564829541_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742371653_o 2018-HMS-Queen-Elizabeth 7u3a9430_49597081163_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-21_14150891072_o 7u3a9506_49597578056_o 2g9a1978_49049023746_o 2g9a0919_48806101261_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-1 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_28095556259_o plaza-de-la-verdura-1_27855773429_o 2g9a2530_49085934973_o wellington-front044-3_25762163748_o 2g9a6750-copy_48204160647_o img_4170_45831075871_o img_9815_43969760715_o img_5439_41600440524_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-165_24674703738_o 2g9a4486_30280747894_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-21_36750958550_o_37027015711_o 2g9a7179_29207202153_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354052533_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-56 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-08_22868970364_o 2g9a9349_27262518223_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
