A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. restauracin-cementerio-witham-24_25384706431_o untitled_panorama3_20090215171_o 7u3a9827_50032742561_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-317_22719174746_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-07_9222705751_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival49_15167960052_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0118-bw_15253196319_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25576702420_o 2g9a0531_26757814192_o 2g9a0733_48806099696_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-14_32513494886_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente27_12249479774_o strongmen-201311_10019330075_o Monos-50 img_4806_25762483818_o a76228de95cfe1d2c67ab1b73bca78b1 P1080605 evacuation-monument-0483_27856104469_o Punta-Europa-11 2g9a5956_48204605506_o 7U3A2445 img_9526_42792483390_o 2g9a9407_32228028261_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_41488508784_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-43_31531497842_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-82_38490782596_o 2g9a6068_31113399075_o_31078855176_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-39_30927267476_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-7_30661247110_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876085191_o 2g9a9457_28859434433_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27732843452_o 2g9a9337_27262520053_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
