cueva-de-st-michael-gibraltar_22122921834_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-745_22717729606_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-9-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273842135_o default 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_30035744201_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-12_15696733287_o el-director-de-la-galera-gino-sanguinetti-i-y-james-foot_17683420565_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-52_29439815955_o img_2673_45564845121_o Year Pack 2017.indd img_0669_20974347974_o university-7_38925369854_o 2g9a8298_48875283342_o 2g9a9720_50032155918_o 2g9a0680_48806238132_o 2g9a1070_48951598278_o jews-gate-cemetery-0491_24765618787_o img_7627_27855939919_o Mezquita-29 gib-calling-panorama3_48699321568_o img_4638_48714310412_o 2g9a8485_46634156141_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-179_26771240769_o img_2330_25970941727_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a6171_30746402250_o_31001136451_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_31991160210_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-45_25326933339_o img_2307_37163012995_o 2g9a4659_30827325321_o 2g9a7417_29205888734_o 2g9a9376_29482310525_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25399965241_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
