181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-474_22745041175_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar09_14731944468_o cola-salida-gibraltar-2511201407_15880512681_o img_3425_34086341712_o img_0325_45202121325_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions hospital-de-campaa_49726813506_o cervantes-04 repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870139273_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-08_14752522101_o img_4264_20485010034_o 2g9a2020_49048528868_o img_9713_20840385704_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-14 img_9096_39633897311_o Southport-gates-1 2g9a4289_48230651791_o 2g9a4713_48717217248_o 2g9a5356_48725847188_o 2g9a4539_48714142791_o 2g9a8415_46581734862_o img_9501_44160756034_o img_1464_29696617697_o img_7262_34614722442_o 08-may-2017-39visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895384554_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-5_31288265534_o 2g9a9235_29852392560_o 2g9a5313_30845032112_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-6_30828743591_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417186425_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24180733796_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-56_20999450618_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-22_19968755191_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
