A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_30271353217_o img_0004_43202790444_o img_48176_41820476192_o img_9361_43921121661_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar05_10382618283_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival18_14484566303_o 3_35347375560_o 2013-HRH-Prince-George-of-Cambridge img_2668_45564846101_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0145-bw_15253195529_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720545113_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente07_12249582566_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-03_9222032679_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente30_12249212783_o 7u3a0061_50032953292_o american-war-memorial-7753_25762320768_o devils-tongue-2_27855539039_o img_0133_4_5_fused_27855819669_o Monos-46 Monos-59 main-street-0432_38737547025_o img_0288-1_30891437587_o 20171214_094350_24195321837_o img_9474_44550412232_o img_5330_41421440735_o img_1166_36814004296_o img_9545_36197419385_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354055653_o 2g9a5920_30999541741_o_31001133241_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-60_30661177160_o 2g9a9438_29481556675_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-14_26935102185_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-69_20999231580_o simulacro-accidente-aereo-en-gibraltar-03122014-22_15758178127_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
