A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3400_33432757723_o img_3410_33432755193_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival33_14981678399_o img_8838_19953416178_o social-distancing-matters_49851277522_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48721053562_o 2g9a0268_48800935258_o entrenamiento-conjunto-balona-san-joseph-en-la-linea-02122013-3_11213199744_o 2g9a0887_48806239427_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-04_9224808220_o strongmen-201375_10018915656_o img_0062_41972487710_o img_9656_21436959856_o 2g9a2552_49086444731_o city-hall_39632534931_o 2g9a2159_48706247486_o img_5451_48919073208_o img_4057_45781939482_o img_0215_28318271318_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-42_31677584875_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354082273_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-16_29605155335_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-27_30763271392_o 2g9a7209_29207186483_o 2g9a7383_29833270235_o 2g9a7181_29207199593_o 114245_29496711125_o 129921_28874476323_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27222141053_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551863003_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-73_21161111236_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-01_20564655864_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
