A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_152239812_ios_22556103830_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-719_22555873990_o panormica-desde-la-parte-alta-del-pen_22551621860_o 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_29824819550_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar08_14803083960_o img_9345_42112036860_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24866205913_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-07_9222705751_o 2016-Gibraltar-Year-of-the-Monkey img_2663_44650717615_o img_0653_21409916919_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-13_40133904472_o university-4_39633682981_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-6_37398194280_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-03_19913598751_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-15_15832481103_o img_9509_41222418705_o 2g9a8806_48826622876_o 2g9a2047_49049026861_o 2g9a5944_48204653942_o 2g9a6802_48204117387_o img_4528_48714143506_o 14-diciembre-2016-gbc-open-day-maratn-benfico-1_31643380845_o actividades-paralelas-al-open-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_31880166513_o 2g9a4564_30827339181_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168291225_o 2g9a4703_30827321991_o img_2129_37163072715_o 2g9a9441_29481553985_o img_2307_37163012995_o 129680_28874476973_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417183825_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551864273_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
