conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_38590493130_o 2g9a9330_48908300217_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_231_20070041300_o 2g9a9962_48907838391_o inmaculada-fotos-23112014-08_15471105014_o img_3989_16074275028_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival04_14277759000_o 7u3a9340_49597082033_o 2014-Gibraltar-Sea-Scouts-Centenary 7u3a9353_49597081913_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0165_15439978615_o 7u3a9373_49597828977_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-23_19382673308_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-34_40133909382_o strongmen-201306_10019358915_o img_0762_20975818733_o img_5710_49085936268_o cruise-liners-14_25762530208_o Monos-23 Monos-en-la-ciudad-13 P1080725 img_0212_45781930422_o img_3940_45831066281_o 7U3A2455 img_9281_44160659384_o img_3350_40937363661_o img_8076_44603355741_o 2g9a5750_32383635870_o img_5336_41421443345_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31949828963_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-14_36750960840_o_36354891563_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-30_30790808191_o img_2140_36973632626_o 116863_29496709125_o img_2304_36765364410_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221948144_o img_5336_29370336352_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417180285_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-2 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24797044212_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-82_21000526399_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
