160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños restauracin-cementerio-witham-30_25451432676_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-115_22756710991_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-368_22122319024_o airport-0430_24765628787_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar20_14964636236_o img_0569_32242280238_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-08_17364151291_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25492906955_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25492907175_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26902336076_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-76_28818132243_o 2014-Dolphins-of-Gibraltar 2g9a0463_26247296533_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16385757192_o img_4192_20920910519_o 7u3a5234_49336695886_o 2g9a2167_48706247176_o img_3946_30891445337_o img_4125_31960326528_o r3wire-varski-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-13_31011423688_o 7U3A2368 img_1492_42824864110_o img_9483_44600536061_o img_3193_40895455812_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402218430_o 2g9a9272_29482473415_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-111_38515438132_o 2g9a9750_27798184991_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-139_38547035801_o 2g9a1633_26964556050_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-16_36750960470_o_37027016401_o img_4534_25275503309_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354074563_o img_2871_25158679301_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026150371_o visita-del-ministro-principal-a-cdiz_26457533451_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29845560342_o img_8754_24455717816_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
