A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-14-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273843655_o 2g9a9924_48908040057_o 20150911_151742426_ios_22122809263_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703065834_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24866205913_o 7u3a9374_49597081743_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868055661_o 2g9a0974_48805746868_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-21_31710621334_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-07_9222039559_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-6_16265142630_o img_9420_42123278181_o 2g9a3984_49336915217_o 2g9a2047_49049026861_o 2g9a8473_46581731172_o img_1707_36861710091_o img_1042_36599994636_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42163383812_o img_0141_40383719520_o img_8777_39877385382_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-5_34113617351_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-22_32141135795_o img_0434_36479608435_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168262035_o 2g9a4701_30279138873_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-16_30243936153_o 2g9a9309_29373757842_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941928963_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799730216_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221933674_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
