A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3331_34112853121_o img_3374_34086335542_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201407_15739843512_o img_0564_22294385224_o MM180007 2g9a0251_48801280246_o jebel-sahara-5-el-cte-de-las-ffaa-britnicas-en-gibraltar-apunta-un-arma_22494994564_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_011_12193742654_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-12_15013761994_o strongmen-201308_10019430943_o 2-expo_frontera 7u3a5246_49336227303_o evacuation-monument-0481_24765699027_o Punta-Europa-3 2g9a2051_48706413462_o img_5402_48919811307_o img_0236-1_45106516874_o img_4132-1_45106513894_o img_1688_36166373184_o img_9607_31008263358_o img_2922_43693498675_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959236635_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a9546_29447159256_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354096473_o img_5115_29445244416_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705376_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24286855844_o img_2287_36326616904_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-38bn_21052097249_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. Gibraltar - 9th May 2015 - Mo Anton took the first prize at the V Gibraltar Song Festival held at the Tercentennary Sports Hall in Gibraltar.Fourteen singers competed in the final from across the world following over 700 entries.
