A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3743_34112960821_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201408_15553472500_o img_8817_19953547740_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-51_29151463430_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25576702420_o img_6713_35541516655_o 7u3a9339_49597829227_o img_0653_21409916919_o 2g9a0505_26578912860_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-30_19570602945_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente06_12249194383_o img_9439_27252736267_o a5f2801198b538a6ef6768746b489725 american-war-memorial-7760_39633617661_o main-street-0435_38925638504_o Mezquita-37 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-16 2g9a8387_46634162301_o 2g9a0594_48919596876_o img_5439_41600440524_o img_9799_43969746635_o img_3562_34196602236_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-4_32102453726_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-2_32129389905_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-28_34428542036_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
