2g9a9916_48907308683_o default Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_9345_42112036860_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9703007570_o img_9416_28984558207_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival30_14981846977_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-21_9222720375_o 2g9a4937_48875162547_o img_2671_44650716515_o img_9454_27252733487_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976723295_o 7u3a5757_49425351698_o 7u3a5085_49336224738_o 7u3a5836_49425351003_o 659-boab-wa_48826285888_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-10 Caleta-y-Playa heritage107_39633120181_o WP_20140507_004 img_3897_30891440657_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131067241_o img_0755_26036934728_o img_8131_42792485340_o 14-diciembre-2016-gbc-open-day-maratn-benfico-8_31527594841_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-184_38547038411_o 2g9a5861_32763866855_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354094083_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-27_34309882052_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318393422_o 2g9a4571_30827337921_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959239485_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834013395_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319190762_o joseph-garca-viceministro-principal-de-gibraltar-el-9-feb-2016-durante-un-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24821643911_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-18_16035937279_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
