turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-624_22121796073_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9703108078_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii37_21190222066_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii63_20593740374_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-85_28818113893_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-08_24030622459_o img_0557_22729135130_o 2g9a0354_48801282661_o P1080673 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-21_37623775942_o img_9905_25762443858_o Alameda-23 P1080622 Punta-Europa-24 Punta-Europa-28 taxi-3_38736801535_o 2g9a8300_46581739082_o 2g9a4640_48714143146_o img_3044_40937838241_o img_4762_48714140891_o 2g9a9464_31505851874_o img_8022_42790064500_o img_0184_36082739060_o untitled_panorama3_29664840647_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31920712944_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31093430580_o 2g9a6076_31113394005_o_30972124082_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-60_30661177160_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-8_30763096512_o 91592_29496685395_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26074967863_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24288112763_o 2g9a9810_27773282722_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
