A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0332_45389523654_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival02_14484528453_o img_0463_45202132605_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-52_29439815955_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24862363724_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0240_15251986429_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-26_29360141371_o img_9902_21281251049_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742373783_o university-31_39633680661_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-16_23771644073_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-09_9222037487_o 2g9a4917_48874962376_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-6 2g9a0433_48801282796_o img_0140-1_31960316628_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-13_37623778612_o 7U3A2471 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876333231_o img_2444_40800634882_o 1_img_0098_42877256075_o img_4060_37023368141_o OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-43_31531497842_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-12_36750961070_o_37027016941_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31427339086_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-23_37148806115_o_37027015361_o 2g9a6148_30306802443_o_31001137691_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077703_o 2g9a5080_30659538800_o 2g9a5200_22782852828_o 2g9a5299_30659937430_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-30_30282253884_o 2g9a7355_29540549990_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799753256_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-28 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128567376_o img_9056_26287195250_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
