A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-6-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273842345_o airport-18_39633898931_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar25_14800950239_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013_9699747177_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival31_14277902009_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival39_14277745239_o repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870139273_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0240_15251986429_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201423_15624582702_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-02_13967081647_o 2g9a2938_49094630982_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-15_13967063627_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876342331_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-13_12865007524_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876426701_o img_4174_20919859978_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876449291_o img_4192_20920910519_o 7u3a9974_50032626861_o 2g9a1978_49049023746_o american-war-memorial-7752_27855785309_o img_3541_39603140302_o 2g9a0580_48919065958_o img_3897_30891440657_o img_1807_37002182955_o img_2368_25970934887_o img_9660_29944609347_o img_9212_38309499186_o_37651609974_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-22_37148806175_o_37027015521_o img_2674_25226075176_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640490_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-47_30927342656_o 17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32247954581_o 2g9a9438_29481556675_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-10_30578376610_o 000-a-dsc_6112_19250557799_o img_5336_29370336352_o 2g9a2887_27668842426_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
