las-bateras-defensivas-de-kings-bastion_22119002383_o img_8427_19896447798_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_0350_45389522814_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9699775293_o img_9410_42112024720_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival37_14441432176_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742373543_o img_5308_34284316762_o 2g9a8323_48875082686_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho14_14292943716_o 2g9a0458_48801284051_o 7u3a9980_50032885367_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-19_16450799331_o img_4241_27855794769_o img_7503_25762253828_o evacuation-monument-0485_27856103789_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131159472_o img_3884_48699323703_o img_1746_43726062115_o img_4597_48713814663_o img_2423_40800640022_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-169_24674693448_o img_8923_38363803121_o_38310548896_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_25021148247_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-54_32141127665_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-67_32102432316_o img_9560_36156572916_o img_0363_36479589625_o img_0817_35671158393_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31093430580_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354088093_o 2g9a7442_29720383332_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640180_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-60 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026145091_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-6 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
