A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_27467340033_o skywalk-gibraltar-18-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273843035_o 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-12_25838070013_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-16_9222332543_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23338438520_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_43397142080_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-04_9225433570_o img_8793_20141599155_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii76_20593707514_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400097061_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-41_29151478040_o img_0821_21409366548_o img_4662_44297316370_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-10_32175359960_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_15764251674_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-08_12864685853_o 2g9a1082_48951597808_o 2g9a2538_49086661552_o jumpers-bastion-1_38736808885_o Punta-Europa-1 shipping-9_39632708821_o taxi-1_38924836184_o 2g9a4236_48230714537_o img_3987_48699831597_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131101253_o 2g9a5335_48726350517_o dscf7839_43693501635_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-32_47697575171_o img_0497_35671092643_o img_9570_31008278578_o 2g9a5899_30306647673_o_31114929795_o img_2103_36973647076_o 2g9a5139_30873009391_o img_2114_36349103273_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-36_25326940409_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-91_29494995942_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-3_30879585655_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29531205796_o 126120_28874486783_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
