Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. paisajes-la-bahia-gibraltar-03_9225017740_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634186425_o img_4873_27994659758_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii09_21190294866_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-70_28815972134_o img_2738_44650724685_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho06_14311154114_o 2g9a0406_48800936943_o img_9422_42123277531_o 2g9a0841_48805745878_o P1080703 img_2789_38925381264_o img_0146_45831059751_o img_9730_44830660762_o 08-may-2017-22visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895393094_o img_8070_42792486230_o OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA img_4256_36329336034_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_30656122113_o img_4262_36329332084_o 2g9a9365_28857722714_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354052533_o 98463_29416768831_o img_5183_29479243165_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27758328941_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
