A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 7u3a9824_50032742591_o monos-en-la-ciudad-06_9225085646_o img_0327_45202120685_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23216843932_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-fabian-picardo-y-esposa_9702998708_o img_0520_45389673434_o miembros-del-jurado_14029877671_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868059961_o 2g9a8333_48874550353_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-25_29331831142_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-8_31742539443_o strongmen-201344_10019075934_o sir-david-steel_50032130168_o Mezquita-11 Southport-gates-5 dscf7864_44550416152_o img_4742_48714311172_o img_0148_40383716880_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-8_32754310667_o img_1547_36185389504_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a5998_31113352205_o_31001131341_o img_8963_24493318008_o_24494947888_o 2g9a6073_31113396335_o_31078854966_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-28_30282255534_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-11_30790814901_o 2g9a9283_29448087646_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27222138023_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-54 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-11 10-may-2014-relevo-del-bastn-de-la-reina-de-los-juegos-de-la-commonwealth_14165027562_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
