He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0416_44297004480_o 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho24_14292929656_o Gibraltar - Albert Hammonds in Concert open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_15766691703_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-41_25062302416_o img_4198_20485083844_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-21_26293510388_o img_9596_41403090594_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201406_15624544042_o gib-view-1_38737087565_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach img_0762_20975818733_o evacuation-monument-0480_24765699437_o 2g9a4963_48875161982_o 2g9a4512_48713811883_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976643075_o img_2945_43693498215_o img_9668_21471741291_o 08-may-2017-23visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895392544_o img_2781_38737251845_o img_0257_36311293012_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131067151_o img_0604_36479627585_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-2_38627527620_o img_0664_36082750900_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331787904_o 2g9a5370_22783253988_o 2g9a5385_25326079619_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-104_30846251072_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-7_30846320482_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-11_25326960339_o 2g9a7356_29540548160_o img_4991_29446939986_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
