A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0467_45202130835_o 2g9a0729_48806099816_o 7u3a6500_49454484666_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_013_12193573503_o 2013-60-Years-of-the-first-Gibraltar-Queen-Elizabeth-II american-war-memorial-7756_27855782349_o img_0821_21409366548_o img_4806_25762483818_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876482801_o WP_20140508_027 P1080599 Mezquita-11 evacuation-monument-0480_24765699437_o 2g9a4234_48230644286_o 2g9a0573_48919597281_o 2g9a4519_48714141276_o img_1654_43726028005_o 2g9a0700_48919806842_o img_2391_43726234495_o img_2345_26972675648_o 08-may-2017-16visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895402064_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-26_32141135125_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-17_37148807075_o_37027016311_o img_9949_36342185631_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-25_34428542256_o 2g9a6127_31077404666_o_31114931915_o img_3782_36973629806_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-90_30846261172_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-15_25631990713_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-30_24847794541_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124234641_o a-dsc_5909_19248927060_o Calentita Night 2014 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
