A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0327_45202120685_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-fabian-picardo_9699763301_o Year Pack 2017.indd 2g9a0524_26851681025_o img_0797_21597307915_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002538038_o img_0817_21409167420_o img_0061_41972488620_o 2g9a2022_49049240867_o 2g9a2050_49049026366_o Trafalgar-1 img_8581_38737100725_o img_0379_80_81_24764852677_o img_6362ddfg_39602853922_o P1080636 cof 2g9a0596_48919066938_o img_5320_48919602836_o img_1189_36605136430_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31318730812_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978712556_o 2g9a5905_30999693541_o_31001133651_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168271645_o 2g9a4701_30279138873_o img_3781_36991652802_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-7_30800468372_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959237345_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128564936_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
