A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_4014_16074198258_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23029440940_o img_0528_44297151610_o img_4889_40964758085_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9703114360_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24862359554_o 7u3a9392_49597579526_o img_5335_34313414461_o img_4102_21438027406_o 2g9a0977_48806101696_o changing-of-the-guard-the-convent-0427_25762634458_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-2 beaches-4_24765382307_o Mezquita-18 WP_20140508_016 WP_20140510_045 2g9a2159_48706247486_o 2g9a0661_48919806947_o img_2964_44603393511_o img_4617_48714310607_o img_5368_41421451025_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42163382842_o img_2412_26972644978_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402219940_o img_0257_36311293012_o img_9532_35361467724_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-15_23497273495_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
