restauracin-cementerio-witham-29_25477575695_o 2g9a9892_48908041837_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. untitled_panorama-12_19896764780_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_43397142080_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-10_15881855402_o img_0014_43016080155_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-20_9225448120_o 7u3a9348_49597829132_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions HMS-Forth-2 inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25244587034_o img_9872_21280341118_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25248540973_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976531205_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-04_19900970102_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-11_9224820414_o 7u3a5198_49336692321_o Monos-16 img_3541_39603140302_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-19 P1080683 rooke-3_24765047097_o img_4060_48699321463_o 2g9a4309_48230719412_o img_5414_48919603136_o img_2954_42792489290_o scounting-for-girls-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-1_44833865022_o 2g9a9426_32308843676_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-153_38547046861_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-18_28981312993_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-182_26771240689_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-71_25326916309_o img_2110_36765420950_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-95_25326898979_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-36_28979572874_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-27_25326948649_o 2g9a4655_30279144063_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959236915_o 128453_28874479113_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-66 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26074984063_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549744404_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
