A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_4857_26995107757_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez09_12102184333_o img_9376_43202801714_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival27_14463414014_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival38_14981730250_o img_8929_20116542766_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii46_21029647329_o img_0690_21409275438_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-32_39267697245_o img_4102_20919761410_o 2g9a4930_48874428293_o img_9646_21463206585_o 2g9a9506_50032627056_o img_7093_27855789629_o 2g9a4250_48230642006_o img_0447_36479606205_o img_3047_26064774667_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-66_29605107235_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-78_38490782726_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-127_29494976272_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-149_24674710288_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959239485_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354072313_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551863003_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978713966_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128564246_o img_2180_36991639712_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-42_24314267883_o img_5194_29370588522_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-09_16195950506_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
