Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 20150911_101605146_ios_22755645911_o 20150911_132759391_ios_22743380435_o airport-0424_39633944971_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23325386415_o img_0297_45202117685_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-texas_9703033864_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-28_9225502286_o img_9761_21280207840_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-32_9222727981_o 2g9a0278_48801281251_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24486404425_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho05_14311156184_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31710468314_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho17_14129560307_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-20_23770224664_o strongman-en-casemates_9997709236_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_25004218717_o strongmen-201336_10019260593_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-7_15832492483_o strongmen-201346_10019123736_o img_9553_42077116982_o 2g9a9844_50032953507_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-3 P1080659 P1080674 2g9a4280_48230653436_o img_5254_48919809367_o img_5326_48919073128_o img_5331_48919602701_o dscf7861_44550416602_o img_1472_44635118681_o img_1744_43916385254_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-8_32010697541_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-85_25326905139_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-49_30880571706_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-5_30879583475_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25466666316_o a-dsc_5713_19250379239_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_26321396921_o 2015_09_14__0203_20801026364_o 19-agosto-2015-celebracin-del-centenario-del-nacimiento-de-sir-joshua-hassan_20086116884_o ceremonia-75-anos-evacuacion-gibraltar-22052015-43_17992059702_o BP200031 Orgullo-Gibraltar-2022-42-Christian-Santos-Alcalde-de-Gibraltar 2g9a6470_51343714255_o
