160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-46_26440831475_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-76_22756754281_o monos-en-la-ciudad-13_9222304459_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-646_22120543744_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634186425_o img_4814_41146189534_o img_0552_44297154540_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9703099932_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival19_14981726009_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24378113232_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48721053412_o 7u3a9446_49597826977_o 2g9a9730_50032155873_o 2013-Diamond-Anniversary-of-the-Coronation 7u3a0047_50032694271_o main-street-10_25762497288_o rock-hotel-1_27855925599_o 2g9a4285_48230652821_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114555162_o img_5282_48919071633_o img_3858_30891441567_o img_9493_43969654425_o img_9433_42792484620_o img_9908_40383758430_o img_9924_42144417812_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-15_31299673424_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-47_31992467822_o 2g9a5978_30746315560_o_31001131821_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-101_30962790565_o 2g9a7475_29207276213_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-51bn_21052089859_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-86_20564662274_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
