restauracin-cementerio-witham-8_24850848543_o 2g9a9856_48907305573_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_30035758571_o COLA GIBRALTAR 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868058721_o img_9359_28984554597_o img_0564_22294385224_o img_2738_44650724685_o devils-tongue-4_24765140787_o 2015-800th-Anniversary-of-the-Magna-Carta img_8362_24765363557_o 2020-Nuestros-nuevos-colegios-ilustraciones-de-Karl-Ullger P1080628 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-16_23771644073_o img_4931_48919598081_o 2g9a0396_48801283246_o img_5335_48919602611_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976574495_o dscf7907_30729844628_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-01_12864996604_o 7U3A2454 img_9536_28250755308_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-95_25326898979_o img_9573_44881504251_o 2g9a7203_29207188013_o img_1143_36166372264_o 2g9a7346_29750647431_o img_8175_44603354841_o 2g9a7375_29833285695_o img_3738_36973651796_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732675872_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-5_30280724363_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-12_19340922304_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
