160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28082174085_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. las-bateras-defensivas-de-kings-bastion-wellington-front-right-bastion-del-siglo-xviii_22740125095_o southport-gates_22714540406_o img_8417_19896494320_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-603_22121871763_o 20150911_150421150_ios_22121240974_o monos-en-la-ciudad-04_9222308173_o COLA GIBRALTAR img_3771_34086389242_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703062508_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703084950_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival24_14981771460_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival57_15145292306_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868058401_o 2020-Definitive-2020 2018-HMS-Queen-Elizabeth img_0706_21409246118_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39876265061_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16199277750_o strongmen-201363_10019008905_o img_9422_42123277531_o changing-of-the-guard-the-convent-0418_24765653487_o P1080684 2g9a8364_46581736532_o img_3946_30891445337_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-179_26771240769_o img_9461_35393046013_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354056413_o 2g9a5128_22782697328_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-65_30962805905_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876084781_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26613176081_o img_8808_24398165521_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
