A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9866_48908037137_o monos-en-la-ciudad-03_9222311515_o colas-frontera-diciembre02_12348642235_o img_3992_16235884456_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-18_9222665493_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_5301_33601839814_o img_6790_34732193043_o img_2609_45564828271_o 2015-University-of-Gibraltar 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho09_14308408821_o 2g9a0370_48801428382_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-29_13967046937_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165221064_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_008_12193750804_o img_0078_42877266305_o 1_img_0078_42877266305_o 180731 - Visita a la nueva central eléctrica y planta de GNL 2g9a9839_50032156693_o 7u3a5209_49336225313_o beaches-1_25762193678_o Mezquita-36 sdr img_5284_48919604246_o img_5335_48919602611_o img_5363_48919810047_o img_3989_30891444647_o img_4186_31960329328_o img_5382_42322446791_o img_8767_39877385712_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-24_36750957240_o_36354889963_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649700_o img_3782_36973629806_o 2g9a6098_30999556571_o_31078854596_o 2g9a5335_30873432881_o img_5287_28854577874_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_24862232114_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
