A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9923_48907836361_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-629_22754096501_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23607995826_o colas-frontera-diciembre02_12348642235_o colas-de-salida-26-01-15_15756867054_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-12_19901671600_o img_3382_34086345302_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9703142988_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-19_29439870255_o 7u3a9326_49597082178_o 7u3a9515_49597827202_o img_6633_35502332656_o university-24_39603875022_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-26_32175359530_o 25A6251 open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16200460329_o img_5858_49086445046_o Monos-15 P1080658 2g9a6824_48204069131_o img_4990_48919068038_o img_4600_48713814633_o 2g9a8355_46634162771_o img_9656_44160819264_o img_1744_43916385254_o img_3023_26064783637_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-30_31299668154_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-17_30846310952_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-98_38515439002_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29332131484_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354081163_o img_9156_26494083331_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354087663_o lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_26321396921_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
