Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_9333_42112019530_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar27_10382636453_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez25_12102129493_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703058520_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868061371_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26902335726_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742373783_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0245_15252196687_o 7u3a9453_49597080878_o gibraltar-eslovaquia17_10967496046_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach img_4298_20484976974_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-20 main-street-0437_24765661627_o img_5402_48919811307_o img_8060_30732455188_o img_0789_39737053065_o img_8124_44553068722_o img_9049_37650098404_o_26590185969_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-45_32022597851_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331787904_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354043763_o 2g9a6068_31113399075_o_31078855176_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-46_30828723301_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168279025_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959238735_o 2g9a9745_29401390581_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551864273_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
