Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. fortn-moro-gibraltar-_9225051012_o 2g9a9431_48907568418_o default skywalk-gibraltar-9-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273842135_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9703006280_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9699918237_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0216_15253367778_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851362566_o 2g9a0212_48800934443_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201415_15438164710_o img_9436_27252737687_o 2g9a1082_48951597808_o 2g9a8833_48826783982_o Monos-24 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114462426_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131096758_o img_0159_45781930052_o img_0304_45831074471_o img_2058_36213088883_o img_9294_29944471667_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31949828063_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402219780_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318398272_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-132_24674712088_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-24_30790955941_o img_5386_41421457375_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565280585_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978712946_o img_5282_29370457062_o img_2253_36991617672_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417187705_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-47 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26088171581_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
