Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_3417_33432753423_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii83_20595231523_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-39_24793036230_o keep-your-distance_49850442083_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868056011_o festival-literario-gibraltar02_10497188353_o 7u3a9453_49597080878_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente28_12249606836_o 2g9a0295_48801427027_o img_9674_42123216141_o 2g9a0360_48801282456_o 2g9a1159_48951598628_o 2g9a0782_48806237097_o gorhams-cave-2_39633650021_o img_5717_49085936068_o Alameda-20 P1080724 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131096543_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-22_47644436052_o img_0181_31960313228_o img_3252_40895448322_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-27_31562086511_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-15_38627528190_o 2g9a5750_32383635870_o img_0387_35644174704_o 2g9a5256_30925825006_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-2_30843124176_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551863003_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-01_22868948264_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-76_20564673204_o 2015_09_14__0045_21235940530_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
