A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9416_48907569188_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-620_22121803173_o img_3382_34086345302_o img_9923_43872623862_o 2016-Fifth-Anniversary-William-Kate henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201404_15624546842_o img_0753_21597029625_o 2g9a0959_48806101981_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-2_19544442156_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16360719866_o 7u3a5734_49425814431_o 7u3a5740_49425814116_o 2g9a4640_48714143146_o img_5249_48919072023_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-15_47644436422_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-4_34113617961_o img_2057_36623942100_o 2g9a9197_29852395480_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354044173_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-3_30962853065_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649990_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-26_30763271692_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29665533230_o img_5294_29190456540_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319190762_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-9_26234664635_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24288110083_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-23_20566181443_o joseph-garca-viceministro-principal-de-gibraltar-el-9-feb-2016-durante-un-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24888685396_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-87_21000520629_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
