A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 140520 - Obras en la frontera de Gibraltar 160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-21_26168041250_o cueva-de-st-michael-gibraltar_22122902684_o 2g9a9389_48908296282_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-18_19468726353_o img_0355_45389521874_o img_9359_28984554597_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-16_9225485306_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival09_14464364185_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32513359576_o img_4703_44297315080_o 2g9a2957_49094630342_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-23_19720508708_o img_0192_41972495360_o 2g9a8779_48826248828_o evacuation-monument-0483_27856104469_o wellington-front0439_39603680912_o 2g9a1808_48699797101_o img_3892_48699660516_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131074511_o img_4548_48713814878_o img_5316_48919074753_o img_5347_48919602421_o img_8060_30732455188_o 7U3A2439 img_3078_40043452025_o img_2370_43916503144_o img_9903_42144422432_o img_0738_28129696049_o img_0830_26036946288_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649230_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133161_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026134431_o img_1647_36764786890_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-59_30880561976_o 2g9a9671_29372753262_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29455746672_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27834205265_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
