Vistas de Gibraltar Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto 20150911_152238465_ios_22718017546_o 181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar06_14731888030_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-10_19468690063_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9699915673_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - Candidates from across both parties took time off for a quick lunch as they continued their walk abouts between polling station.Acting Governor Alison Macmilan was also observed visiting polling stations in the company of Presiding Officer Paul Martinez.Others involved in monitoring the progress of the voting has been Unite whose senior committee were on a walk about between polling stations. fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-36_17338550216_o HMS-Forth la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24378116892_o img_0702_20975985063_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25877288835_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho07_14311746115_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742371673_o gibraltar-eslovaquia03_10967407065_o untitled_panorama-2_21605669581_o 7u3a5836_49425351003_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-32_37623773272_o img_7503_25762253828_o San-Michaels-Medium 2g9a4494_48714142106_o 2g9a4598_48714142351_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-74_29495007012_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402220770_o 2g9a5139_30873009391_o img_2094_37163087715_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-36_25326940409_o 2g9a4644_30827326321_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-7_30578377870_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319190562_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23838987319_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201450_15789738276_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
