A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. pasajeros-en-el-interior-de-un-vehculo-en-la-cola-de-acceso-a-gibraltar_9460842480_o 2013-Year-of-the-Snake colas-frontera-2-abril-2014-infogibraltar-fotgrafo-marcos-moreno_13598468303_o strongmen-201356_10019007974_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851354856_o Monos-61 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-13_29439884885_o Alameda-20 7u3a9353_49597081913_o 2g9a1745_48699322093_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-33_40133910282_o 2g9a2076_48706249681_o 2g9a6724_48204067811_o img_4132-1_45106513894_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-25_47644435932_o img_1197_36605132990_o img_9466_44160742804_o img_8994_26588613049_o_38310545766_o img_9676_44881516961_o 2g9a5158_30925681146_o scounting-for-girls-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-26_44833862302_o 2g9a5257_30659824120_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-76_30962800865_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354051213_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-23_30280682513_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354073593_o 2g9a9370_28860194283_o 2g9a9745_29401390581_o 000-crowning-dsc_0237_19249139448_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
