A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. At 1500hrs on 28th May 2014 Spanish border controls at the Gibraltar-Spain frontier saw over one hour delays imposed on pedestrians. The restrictions were placed at a time when school children and tourist were crossing. At approximately 1630hrs the same restrictions were eased. img_3987_16235898436_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-28_9222682679_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-this-side-up_9703030360_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-43_28818218543_o img_0561_22498812538_o img_2619_45564824811_o 2g9a2997_49094632342_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-18_40133899952_o visita-platini-gibralar-rock-cup-2014-35_14150920852_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201403_15623702085_o strongman-en-casemates_9997656265_o 2g9a0482_48801283706_o 2g9a2080_48706249571_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165274764_o 2g9a2093_48706416452_o 2g9a4262_48230655601_o img_5367_48919601896_o untitled_panorama1_48705911238_o dscf7828_44600541071_o img_9437_29944492417_o 2g9a6140_30746213010_o_31001127711_o img_9558_43969743275_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-50_30661220440_o img_9609_31008261418_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834008315_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-146_38547049881_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26586142392_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-19_37148806825_o_37027015991_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-58bn_21051012298_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354080313_o a-dsc_5602_18814099644_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
