160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-572_22556396570_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. 4-oct-2017-cm-y-representantes-de-gibraltar-en-cuarta-comisin-de-naciones-unidas-2_37398299350_o img_0350_45389522814_o img_0424_46063491302_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-15_9225485712_o img_0443_45202138375_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-fabian-picardo_9702997286_o img_9937_43872622512_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-54_29331775372_o proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_41541645772_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0261-bw_15439620162_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-06_24398436285_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-27_32513497486_o bayside-panorama5_48800933633_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-23_19720508708_o 1_img_0120_43733171462_o img_9603_41403088654_o 7u3a9643_49900813071_o main-street-10_25762497288_o 2g9a0669_48919068688_o img_5406_48919811257_o img_0237_30891443157_o img_2977_42792489040_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA 14-diciembre-2016-gbc-open-day-maratn-benfico-4_31527599701_o img_0379_36342232071_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-10_36750961530_o_37027017111_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-74_30661171030_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978712646_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-23_30962841425_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026138831_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-35_30927270776_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-42_28979568994_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24286855584_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
